Shanthanu Chakravarthy

Shanthanu is a Mechanical Engineer by training and has a Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. He received M.S. degree from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City.  For his PhD research, Shanthanu studied haptics and simulation related issues for developing an endoscopy simulator. The first product from Mimyk would be based on the endoscopy simulator developed during this research work.

Shanthanu’s interests are in medical devices, haptics, robotics, and virtual reality-based simulation.

Balaji Gopal

Balaji received his Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from M. S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, India. He has worked on a number of devices such as micropump for insulin delivery applications, pipe inspection Robot, and MEMS manufacturing. Balaji has experience in running businesses across manufacturing and construction domains.

Balaji’s interests are in medical devices, robotics, and manufacturing.

Nithin Shivashankar

Nithin received his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Computer Science and Automation, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the Manipal Institute of Technology.  Nithin received “IBM best thesis award” for his PhD work focused on computational topology and scientific visualization.

Nithin’s interests are in scientific visualization and computational topology.

Raghu Menon

Raghu  is an engineer and product designer by training. He received his Mdes degree from the Centre for Product Design and Manufacturing (CPDM), Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. He also holds an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, Cambridge.

Raghu is an expert in new product development and innovation strategy.

Prof. G K Ananthasuresh, Mech Engg, IISc

G. K. Ananthasuresh received the B.Tech. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai, India, in 1989 and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1994. He is currently a Professor and Chair of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge (during 1995–1996), taught at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia (during 1996–2004), and served as a Visiting Scientist at the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, U.K., and the Katholike Univesiteit, Leuven, Belgium. He is on the Editorial Boards of eight journals. He is a coauthor of more than 180 papers in journals and conferences, as well as a textbook, two edited books, and ten book chapters. His current research interests include compliant mechanisms, kinematics, multidisciplinary design optimization, microsystems technology, micro- and mesoscale manufacturing, protein design, and cellular biomechanics. Dr. Ananthasuresh received the National Science Foundation CAREER Award (1998–2002) in the U.S. and the Swarnajayanthi Fellowship (2007–2012) and Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize (2010) in India, as well as seven best paper awards at international and national conferences.

Prof. Vijay Natarajan, CSA , IISc

Vijay Natarajan is Mindtree AI Chair Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Automation at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He received the Ph.D. degree in computer science from Duke University in 2004 and holds the B.E. degree in computer science and M.Sc. degree in mathematics from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India. His research interests include scientific visualization, computational geometry, and computational topology.

Prof. Vijay Chandru, Chairman, Strand Life Sciences

Dr. Chandru - portraitVijay Chandru had his formal training as an early data scientist in Electrical Engineering (BE BITS- Pilani), in Systems Science and Engineering (MS, UCLA) and in Decision Sciences (PhD, MIT). Building on this foundation, he has had over 35 years of experience straddling various geographies, academic environments and industries. His academic career in teaching and research in computational mathematics was substantially at Purdue University (1982-92) and the Indian Institute of Science since 1992. A fellow of the Indian academies of engineering and science, Chandru is currently an adjunct visiting professor of interdisciplinary sciences in Bio-Engineering and in Cyber Physical Systems at the Indian Institute of Science. As a technology entrepreneur he was one of the inventors of the Simputer® and currently serves as the Chairman of Strand Life Sciences, both spinoffs from IISc. He was named a Technology Pioneer of the World Economic Forum in 2007 and for contributions to science and society, Professor Chandru was awarded the Hari Om Trust Award by University Grants Commission in 2003 and the President’s Medal of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science (INFORMS) in 2006. In 2008, India Today named him in the 50 pioneers of change in the country. 

Dr D Nageshwar Reddy, MD., DM., D.SC., FAMS., FRCP., FASGE., FACG., MWGO

Dr-Nageshwar-ReddyDr D Nageshwar Reddy is currently the Chairman of the AIG Hospitals, Hyderabad, India. He was the past president of the World Endoscopy Organization. Dr Reddy is an elected fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences. The American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) awarded Dr Reddy the Master Endoscopist Award. Dr Reddy was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award.
Dr Reddy graduated from Kurnool Medical College obtaining internal medicine, Masters from Madras Medical College and D.M in Gastroenterology from PGIMER, Chandigarh. His main area of research interest has been in G.I. Endoscopy particularly in Therapeutic Pancreatic Biliary Endoscopy and Innovations in Transgastric Endoscopic Surgery. He has published over 495 papers in National & International Peer review journals and has contributed chapters in 7 International Textbooks of Gastroenterology and has edited 3 G.I. Endoscopy Textbooks. He is on the Editorial Board of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Digestive Endoscopy, World Journal of Gastroenterology, World Gastroenterology News, Gastroenterology Today, Recent Patents on Medical Imaging, and Gastro-Hep.com. He is the peer reviewer of the Journals like Lancet, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Endoscopy, World Journal of Gastroenterology, Journal of Gastroenterology & Hepatology and Indian Journal of Gastroenterology. He was the President of Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India in 2001. He has been a visiting faculty for over 200 international endoscopy workshops and forum member of Asian Endoscopy Masters Forum.

Dr K Lakshman, L.R.C.P, M.R.C.S.(Lon), F.R.C.S. (EDIN), F.R.C.S. (Eng.)

Dr Lakshman

Dr K Lakshman is a senior surgeon, endoscopist, and the former director of skills lab at the Bangalore Medical College (BMC). He has vast experience in medical teaching. He has constantly been advising Mimyk team on research and development activity.  Dr Lakshman has set up the Clinical Skills Centre, including Laparoscopic Skills Lab at the BMC. He has published several original articles and editorials in indexed journals.
